Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the PC4713-W and the PC4713-W-485?
Both variants share the same metering core, accuracy, housing and power supply. The PC4713-W communicates over WiFi only (HTTP, MQTT, Modbus TCP), while the PC4713-W-485 adds an RS485 port for Modbus RTU.
Does the PC4713-W need a gateway or a third-party cloud?
No. The meter is an open-protocol device — it reports directly to your own cloud server over MQTT, HTTP or Modbus TCP, and can also be read locally. No OWON cloud or gateway is required.
Can I read the PC4713-W locally without any cloud?
Yes. Connect to the device with a browser to view real-time data and configure settings; no APP is required. It also integrates with Home Assistant.
Is PC4713-W suitable for anti-backflow applications?
Yes. The meter provides real-time import and export energy data required for export limitation, zero-export control and anti-backflow monitoring applications.
What electrical systems are supported?
The PC4713-W supports single-phase, split-phase and three-phase four-wire systems. Three-phase three-wire and delta systems are not supported.
What CT options are available for the PC4713-W?
External CT clamps from 80A to 750A are available, making the meter suitable for residential, commercial and light industrial sub-metering, solar PV and battery energy storage projects.
